Biography
Poet and literary critic Susan Howe has published more than a dozen books and has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Bollingen Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and the Griffin Poetry Prize. Her strikingly original work transcends genre and resists categorization; The Griffin Poetry Prize judges described her long and influential career as “one of the most significant, innovative and humane in recent American letters.” Howe has also released three CDs in collaboration with the musician/composer David Grubbs (of the bands Bastro, Gastr del Sol, Squirrel Bait). Her word collages have been exhibited at the Yale Union in Portland, Oregon, and in the Whitney Biennial.
